Our No Dirty Deals campaign fights false solutions like Biomass, Liquid Natural Gas (LNG), and Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) in the Southeast/Gulf South region. Recognizing the pressing need for genuine action to combat climate change and environmental degradation, we refuse to accept superficial fixes that do more harm than good.

Liquified Natural Gas
Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) has been touted as a cleaner alternative to coal and oil, but in the Gulf South, its environmental and social impacts tell a different story. The extraction, transportation, and processing of LNG involve significant greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to climate change. Furthermore, LNG projects often lead to habitat destruction, water contamination, and air pollution, adversely affecting local ecosystems and communities.
Biomass
Biomass energy, derived from organic materials like wood and agricultural waste, is often presented as a renewable solution. However, in the Gulf South, the large-scale production of biomass has raised significant environmental concerns. The harvesting of forests for biomass can lead to deforestation, loss of biodiversity, and soil degradation.
Carbon Capture & Storage (CSS)
Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) is promoted as a method to reduce carbon emissions from industrial processes and power plants by capturing carbon dioxide and storing it underground. In the Gulf South, CCS projects have garnered attention as potential solutions to climate change.
