Tell Your Neighbor: Bessemer Residents vs Project Marvel

Tell Your Neighbor tells the story of a small community standing up to big tech and pushing back against Project Marvel, a $14.5 billion hyperscale data center project with 18 buildings the size of 18 super Walmarts, that will ripple through not just Bessemer, but surrounding communities and the state of Alabama. Concerns raised include issues of land usage, health concerns related to noise, light, and water pollution, as well as increased energy costs from fossil fuels to cool these data centers.

Community members are fed up with the lack of transparency and community collaboration from city officials and note that they are not able to have their voices heard. The purpose of this documentary is to give them that voice. Our goal is also to encourage other communities to stand up and make their voices heard.
