Tell Chuck Schumer to prioritize climate and equity in the bipartisan infrastructure bill

Hi Everyone,

The National Campaign for Transit Justice is hosting a joint action: “Tell Majority Leader Chuck Schumer: The bipartisan infrastructure bill must include the fight for climate justice and equity”

Media reports make it clear that Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is considering making the bipartisan infrastructure bill worse -- not better. And the bill is expected to be voted on next week.

This joint action will launch Tuesday, July 13th and run until the bill passes, possibly as early as July 23rd. It’s open to all (501c3 and c4 nonprofits, LLCs, PACs and candidates) as we can run parallel actions if we have a critical mass of partners on both the nonprofit side and the PAC/candidate side.

This action will be hosted on the Action Network platform, include a one-for-one exchange on new-to-list emails, and provide the option of unique after-action redirects such as fundraising pages.

You can find the full petition text below.

Thanks,

Ben

In an attempt to overcome Republican opposition, Senator Schumer may compromise our values and significantly cut back the fight against climate change and for racial and economic equity -- areas that President Biden has explicitly advocated for in his American Jobs Plan.

With the president promising the bipartisan coalition not to “double dip” (meaning anything the Senate compromise cuts back on -- but doesn’t eliminate completely -- won’t be included in reconciliation later), we must take action now!

The Senate is expected to vote on the bipartisan infrastructure package the week of July 19th.

In an attempt to overcome Republican opposition and get Republican votes for a bipartisan jobs and infrastructure bill, do not compromise our values and significantly cut back the fight against climate change and for racial and economic equity proposed by President Biden in his American Jobs Plan.

We demand any bipartisan compromise must include the fight for climate justice and equity.
